CURRENT CONCEPTS IN SURGICAL PATHOLOGY
This five-day postgraduate course is under the direction of Drs. Eugene J. Mark, Judith A. Ferry, Andrew E. Rosenberg, and Robert H. Young, with approximately 41 faculty members from the Massachusetts General Hospital and one guest speaker. The course will emphasize light microscopic differential diagnoses of commonly encountered problems in surgical pathology but will also include application of molecular pathology and cytopathology. The course will include small group slide review sessions and informal small group evening seminars. The glass slide use at the small group slide review sessions will be available throughout the week for examination on one's own time. The hotel is located centrally opposite the Boston Public Garden and close to fine shopping. Participants will receive a syllabus and a CD ROM of the course proceedings. CYTOPATHOLOGY FOR THE PRACTICING PATHOLOGIST: VIDEOMICROSCOPY TUTORIALS ON SELECTED TOPICS
This two-day postgraduate course is under the direction of David C. Wilbur, M.D. and will include many members of the Harvard Cytopathology staff. The course will be a unique interactive format with seminar style videoconference sessions combining traditional lecture slides and discussion, with actual cases projected via the videomicroscope. This format allows for real time discussion in addition to the presentation of didactic material. This year's sessions include a variety of gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and fine needle aspiration topics. The course dovetails with the annual Current Concepts in Surgical Pathology course for those wishing to combine these two offerings. The hotel is centrally located in Boston, directly across from the Public Garden. Participants will receive a course syllabus and a CD-ROM of the sessions. SURGICAL PATHOLOGY FOR THE PRACTICING PATHOLOGIST
This four-day postgraduate course in Surgical Pathology is under the direction of Robert H. Young, MD. Speakers will include several from the Massachusetts General Hospital and at least two guest speakers and topics selected will, to the extent possible, be different from those in recent offerings of this course. The course is being held at a well-known resort hotel with outstanding spa beautifully situated in scenic Scottsdale in close proximity to art galleries, fine shopping, and many outstanding restaurants. Trips to Tucson and the famous Red Rock Country of Sedona are easily done using the resort as a base and the mild winter climate in Arizona has strong appeal to most. This four-day
postgraduate course is under the direction of Robert H. Young, MD with additional Harvard Medical School Faculty (Dr. M. Lerwill -Breast Pathology and Dr. A. Rosenberg-Soft Tissue and Bone Pathology and other Harvard faculty to be determined). Guest faculty will include Dr. Klaus Busam-Dermatopathology and Dr. Bruce Wenig-Head and Neck Pathology. The resort, which has a renowned spa, is located on a private peninsula with a panoramic water view looking towards the islands of Sanibel and Capitva, well known for their unspoiled charm. The objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive review of urologic surgical pathology with special attention paid to common diagnostic problems such as prostate biopsy interpretation, recent advances and new entities. GASTROINTESTINAL, LIVER, AND PANCREATIC PATHOLOGY
The Brigham and Women's and the Massachusetts General Hospitals are co-sponsoring this course under the direction of Robert D. Odze, M.D. and Gregory Y. Lauwers, M.D. This course provides a comprehensive review of the current concepts in diagnostic surgical pathology of the gastro-intestinal tract, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The role of pathologists in the diagnosis and reporting of endoscopically obtained biopsies and resection specimens is emphasized. A CD-ROM, including lectures and photographs of the entities presented during the course, is available on request. This educational activity enables attendees 28.25 hours of CME.
