The Clinical Hematology Laboratory provides complete blood counts and white cell differentials of blood and other body fluids, reticulocyte counts, as well as measurement of prothrombin time (PT), partial thromboplastin time (PTT), fibrinogen, D-dimer, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Also offered by special arrangement is a superstat service for PT and PTT to areas of critical care. Wright-Giemsa, iron, and enzyme cytochemical stains in the work-up of leukemias are provided. Urine specimens are analyzed by dipstick analysis as well as by a flow cytometry based method and by microscopy. Interpretation of all test results is available from a staff pathologist.
