Organization

The Pathology Service is organized into three mission-based and two cross-mission Divisions, each led by an Associate Chief of Pathology:

Mission-Based Divisions

• Education (Dr. Stephen Black-Schaffer, Associate Chief)
• Research (Dr. Keith Joung, Associate Chief)

Cross-Mission Divisions

• Informatics (Dr. John Gibertson, Associate Chief)
• Quality and Safety (Dr. Jennifer Hunt, Associate Chief)

The clinical arm of the Pathology Service is further organized into more than five functional Units, all having a full tripartite mission of clinical service, education and research. The directors of each Unit work with all of the Associate Chiefs to achieve their missions. The major Units and subdivisions are:
