Dr. Dinesh Patel directs arthroscopic surgery learning at the Psychomotor
Skills Laboratory at Ruth Sleeper Hall. The lab's arthroscopic simulation
modules includes, knee, shoulder, ankle, and elbow. The simulation modules
are utilized in the training of residents, fellows, operating room nurses
and 3rd and 4th year medical students. The lab provides a setting for hands
eye coordination - skill development in operating technique using Arthroscopic
instruments.
The Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program is one of the few programs
in the world that has a long history of training residents and fellows in
this unique capacity. Arthroscopic surgical training in models and cadavers
under Dr. Patel's apt direction have been valuable training tools for residents
and fellows for over a decade here at the MGH. Many faculty, including Dr.
Harry E. Rubash, Dr. Jon Warner, Dr. Bert Zarins, Dr. Art Boland, Dr. Tom
Gill, Dr. Peter Millet, Dr. Charles Brown as well as many others have enthusiastically
endorsed this venture and have contributed time to these worthwhile learning
sessions.
