Mission
There is arguably no region of the human body where the combination of form and function plays a more vital role in the physical and psychosocial well-being of human beings. For this reason, the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery at MASS GENERAL has become synonymous with continuous improvement. The Skeletal Biology Research Center (SBRC) of the Mass General Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery was established in 1994 to evaluate novel technologies, advances in wound healing, and ground-breaking surgical techniques for application to the face and jaws. Here, where invention meets innovation, we lead the specialty in the development of tools and techniques that promote reduced surgical morbidity and better clinical outcomes for patients with traumatic injury, congenital and acquired anomalies, or diseases of the face and jaw. |
“The 3-dimensional aspects of the face and jaw provide unique challenges in the development of innovations for surgery and treatment planning.” Contact Us: Skeletal Biology |
