Background
I graduated Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in 1996 and started my residency as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine. I continued training in peripheral nerve and hand surgeries and became interested in peripheral nerve regeneration. I achieved my PhD through research in peripheral nerve regeneration in 2005, but was taken back to the clinical field where I was away from basic science for 3 years. During those 3 years, I was still interested in doing researches again, and this is why I joined the lab in April 2008.

Research
My current work in Japan was on peripheral nerve regeneration associated with blood nerve barrier, cytokines and nerve growth factors. My research interest is now focused on identifying the molecular mechanisms that drive nerve regeneration and promote neuronal survival. My dream is to improve the surgical results with the work I’m doing here.
