Boston Health and Fitness Expo a success

Attracting more than 74,000 visitors, the MGH and other Partners hospitals teamed up with Channel 7 News/CW 56 to present the second annual Boston Health and Fitness Expo June 21 and 22 at the Hynes Convention Center.

Full of fun activities and interactive exhibits, the expo highlighted many important health topics. Visitors to the MassGeneral Hospital for Children exhibit had the opportunity to see and touch real cow hearts to learn about cardiovascular health, and a showcase of the MGH Centers of Excellence provided information about the hospital's programs in cancer, physical and occupational therapy, digestive health, pediatrics and cardiovascular disease. Visitors also were able to take advantage of free screenings for skin cancer and carotid artery disease. Other MGH offerings included bicycle helmet fittings and giveaways, presentations by leading MGH experts and an "Ask the Expert" segment in which a team of Heart and Vascular Center clinicians provided one-on-one consultations and balance assessments. Hundreds of volunteers from throughout the MGH and Partners helped make the expo a tremendous success.
