Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will host the following free events for seniors age 60 years or older: an "Autumn Fitness" exercise class Nov. 20, from 11 am to noon at the Clubs at Charles River Park with lunch served from noon to 1 pm; a book club discussion of "Amazing Grace" Nov. 20, from 3 to 4 pm at the West End Library; and hypertension screenings Nov. 24, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the West End Library. Call for nominations
The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Office for Diversity and Community Partnership is accepting nominations for the 2008-2009 A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award, the William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award and the Young Mentor Award. The awards honor HMS and Harvard School of Dental Medicine faculty members who have provided sponsorship, encouragement and support for the career and personal development for other faculty, trainees and students. "Compassion and Resilience" photographic exhibit
"Compassion and Resilience," an exhibit featuring the photographs of Steven Gardner, MD, of MGH Beacon Hill Associates, will open Nov. 21 at the Gallery at the Boston Private Bank & Trust, 10 Post Office Square, Boston. A recipient of the MGH Kendall Fellowship for Primary Care, Gardner spent 12 weeks at the MGH taking photos of doctors, nurses and others to capture the bonds that often are born from the patient-caregiver relationship. The exhibit will run through Dec. 31.
