Coming together to help survivors of domestic violence

As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the MGH's Domestic Violence Working Group (DVWG) sponsored an event on behalf of Tailored For Success, Inc. (TFS). This nonprofit organization's mission is to increase the marketability of economically disadvantaged women, many of whom are survivors of domestic violence, by providing free business clothing and accessories. The DVWG hosted a business suit and accessories drive at the MGH to benefit TFS and increase awareness of domestic violence.

The drive took place Oct. 29 on the main campus as well as at the Chelsea, Revere, Charlestown and North End health care centers to gather new and gently worn business apparel. Approximately 1,500 items of clothing were collected from MGH employees from departments ranging from Vascular Surgery to Marketing to Biomedical Engineering.

The MGH DVWG is an interdisciplinary hospital group comprising representatives from HAVEN, the Partners Employee Assistance Program, MGH Police and Security, MGH Chaplaincy, the Center for Community Health Improvement, the Office of General Counsel, the Department of Nursing, the Social Service Department and the MGPO.
