Senior HealthWISE lecture

The Partners Paging Directory (PPD) is now available over the Internet at www.partners.org/ppd. To access the directory, staff should enter their Partners username and password.

DSC web seminar
The MGH Disparities Solutions Center (DSC) will host a web seminar, "Improving Quality and Addressing Disparities: Accreditation Standards, Market-Strategies and Levers for Action" Nov. 20, from 3 to 4:30 pm. The seminar will focus on the development of accreditation standards and market strategies that foster the creation of ways to identify and address racial and ethnic disparities in health care and improve the care for culturally diverse populations. Guest speakers will be Amy Wilson-Stronks, MPP, CPHQ, principal investigator of the Joint Commission study "Hospitals, Language and Culture: A Snapshot of the Nation;" Jessica Briefer French, MHSA, senior consultant for Research and Analysis at the National Committee for Quality Assurance; and Leah Trahan, MPH, CHES, program analyst for the Center for Prevention and Health Services at the National Business Group on Health. Ethics forum

The MGH Ethics Task Force will offer "The Use of Noninvasive Ventilation Near the End of Life" Nov. 14, from noon to 1 pm in the Gray/Bigelow Sweet Conference Room. Robert Kacmarek, PhD, director of MGH Respiratory Therapy and co-author of one of the articles to be discussed, will present; and Alex Cist, MD, of Pulmonary and Critical Care and the Optimal Care Committee, will be the moderator. Lung cancer candlelight vigil
In recognition of National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Partners HealthCare and the MGH will join the Lung Cancer Alliance of Massachusetts for a "Shine a Light on Lung Cancer" candlelight vigil Nov. 20 at 6 pm at the Prudential Center's Boylston Plaza adjacent to the Hynes Convention Center.
