Running for a cause with MassGeneral Hospital for Children

Individuals interested in running the 2009 Boston Marathon to support the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's (MGHfC) marathon team – "Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time" – which supports the MGHfC's Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center, have the opportunity to experience one of the city's most celebrated traditions while supporting a worthy cause. MGHfC marathon team runners receive access to the FirstGiving website to promote their cause; participation at team meetings that offer assistance with fundraising, nutrition, training, team building and marathon day information; receipt of e-newsletters with helpful hints and important information about training and nutrition; participation in the MGHfC patient partner program; an invitation to a pre-marathon pasta dinner; transportation to Hopkinton on the day of the marathon, and more.

2007 mghfc marathon teamTo participate, runners are responsible for raising a $50 MGH registration fee; a $200 or $250 Boston Athletic Association fee, which is based on the date of submission; and a fundraising commitment, which is $3,000 for charity runners and $500 for qualified runners. When registering, participants must include first name, last name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number and reasons for wanting to run on the MGHfC Marathon Team.
