Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer the following events: a tour of the Museum of African American History Feb. 5, from 1 to 2 pm at the Abiel Smith School, 46 Joy Street; a screening of the documentary "Been Rich All My Life" Feb. 6, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the Haber Conference Room; and a lecture series, "When the Golden Years Don't Feel So Golden," Feb. 7, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room with guest speaker Mary Lussier-Cushing, APRN. Nominations for HMS Dean's Community Service Awards
The Office for Diversity and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School (HMS) is seeking nominations for the 2008 Dean's Community Service Awards, which recognize HMS and Harvard School of Dental Medicine faculty, trainees, students and staff who have made outstanding personal efforts in serving the local, national or international community. Ethics forum
The MGH Ethics Task Force will offer "Jewish Law and End of Life Decision Making: A Case Study" Feb. 8, from noon to 1 pm in the Sweet Conference Room. Craig D. Blinderman, MD, MA, of the MGH Palliative Care Service, will be the guest speaker, and Rabbi Ben Lanckton of the MGH Chaplaincy will lead a panel discussion. Wellman Center lecture series
The MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine lecture series will host "Singlet Oxygen in Biological Systems: From Green Fluorescent Proteins to Photodynamic Inactivation of Bacteria" Feb. 7, from 2:15 to 3:15 pm. A coffee reception will begin at 2 pm. Santiago Nonell, PhD, FRSC, professor of Physical Chemistry at the Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona, Spain, will be the guest speaker. Ash Wednesday services
MGH Chaplaincy will offer Ash Wednesday services Feb. 6 in the MGH Chapel on Ellison 1. Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 11 am and 4 pm and an ecumenical service will be held at 12:15 pm. All services will be broadcast on Channel 16 on the MGH in-house television system. Ashes will be distributed in the Chapel between 9 am and 5 pm and will be delivered once to each patient floor between 8 am and 4 pm. Ashes also will be distributed at the following: CNY Building 149, West Wing, from noon to 1 pm; Charlestown HealthCare Center, basement conference room, from 11 am to noon; Revere HealthCare Center, Sweet Conference Room, from 11:30 am to noon; Schrafft Center, fifth floor, BWPO Conference Room, from noon to 1 pm; Chelsea HealthCare Center, third floor conference room, from 8 to 8:45 am and the fourth floor Eleanor Clark Conference Room, from noon to 1 pm; and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, 11th floor patient lounge, from 10 to 10:45 am and sixth floor OR lounge, from 11 to 11:30 am. Conversations with Caregivers eldercare series
