In General

John A. Parrish, MD, director of the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT), and R. Rox Anderson, MD, director of the MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine, have been named the recipients of the Discovery Award by the Dermatology Foundation. The award, honoring exemplary contributions to the field of dermatology, was given jointly to Parrish and Anderson for their landmark discovery of selective photothermolysis, a process that spatially confines the therapeutic effects of lasers and avoids side effects such as scarring. This work has led to the widespread use of lasers in dermatology and several surgical specialties.
