Joseph C. Kvedar, MD, of MGH Dermatology, has been awarded the University of Vermont Medical Alumni Association's Distinguished Academic Achievement Award for outstanding scientific and academic achievement. Kvedar, a 1983 graduate of the school, is the founder and director of the Partners Center for Connected Health, a leader in using modern communication technologies to deliver health care services outside of the traditional medical setting. Among his many accomplishments in his role with the center, Kvedar launched the first physician-to-physician online consultation service in an academic setting.

Faisal Merchant, MD, a fellow in the MGH Cardiology Division, has been named a recipient of CIMIT's Young Clinician Award for outstanding physicians interested in pursuing a research career. The $50,000 award – administered by CIMIT and supported by Johnson & Johnson's Corporate Office of Science and Technology – will aid Merchant in developing tools to improve catheter ablation techniques for treatment of atrial fibrillation.
