David Blumenthal, MD, MPP, director of the MGH/Partners Institute for Health Policy and a physician in the MGH Department of Medicine, has received the Distinguished Investigator Award from AcademyHealth, the principal national organization representing health services researchers and healthy policymakers. The Samuel O. Thier Professor of Medicine and a professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School, Blumenthal's research interests include health information technology, quality management in health care, the determinants of physician behavior, health care access and academic-industrial relationships in the health sciences.
Colleen Kigin, DPT, former director of MGH Physical Therapy Services and currently chief of staff at CIMIT and an assistant professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, has been elected a 2008 Catherine Worthington Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in recognition of her many contributions to the practice, education and research in physical therapy. Kigin has been involved in numerous activities of APTA, including serving as vice president and member of the Board of Directors and president of the Massachusetts chapter. The organization counts only 110 fellows among its more than 71,000 members.
