MGH receives gold-level GWTG Stroke status

get with the guidelines logoThe MGH has received the American Stroke Association's Get With the Guidelines—Stroke (GWTG—Stroke) Gold Performance Achievement Award. The honor recognizes the MGH for implementing best practices for stroke care to ensure that stroke patients receive the highest quality care according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations. The MGH will receive the prestigious award at next year's International Stroke Conference and will be recognized for delivering greater than 85 percent of the recommended guidelines to all stroke and transient ischemic attack patients over two years.

"This is a great example of the MGH's multidisciplinary teamwork achieving improved patient care and outcomes of stroke patients," says Lee J. Schwamm, MD, vice chairman of Neurology and chair of the multidisciplinary Acute Stroke Quality Taskforce at MGH. "The full implementation of acute care and secondary prevention recommendations and guidelines is a critical step in saving lives. We are very pleased to be honored with this wonderful acknowledgement."
