Careers in health care have evolved beyond the traditional physician or nurse roles, offering individuals a wide array of career options. MGHers recently had the opportunity to explore health care careers at the annual Career Development Series March 27. Participants learned about careers in medical technology, medical coding, electrodiagnostic technology, surgical technology, medical imaging and nursing.
An MGH expert in each area provided an overview of the field, along with the types of jobs available within the field, education requirements, college programs, annual salaries, types of work schedules and other resources such as financial aid and admission requirements. Employee participants also learned about MGH resources such as the Tuition Assistance Program, the Support Service Employee Grant and other assistance offered by the MGH Training and Workforce Development Department.
