Mass Health Data Consortium conference
The Massachusetts Health Data Consortium will host its 30th annual conference, "Looking Ahead to the Next 30 Years in Healthcare" June 6, from 8 am to 4 pm at the Westin Waltham Hotel. James J. Mongan, MD, president and chief executive officer of Partners HealthCare, will be among the featured guest speakers. Discounted member rates of $250 are available for MGH employees. CIMIT poster competition
CIMIT will host a poster competition during the CIMIT Innovation Congress 2008 to be held Oct. 28 and 29. The competition is open to students, postdoctoral fellows and staff investigators affiliated with an academic medical center. The following prizes will be awarded: innovative research, $1,500; potential for patient benefit, $1,000; and best student poster, $500. The submission deadline is July 31. Steps to Success seminars
MGH Training and Workforce Development will offer the following Steps to Success seminars: "Session One: The Journey from Job to Career," May 22, from 1 to 2 pm in the Yawkey Center, Room 10640; and "Session Two: Planning and Paying for College" May 29, from 1 to 2 pm in the Yawkey Center, Room 2230. Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will host the following events: hypertension screenings May 19, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the West End Senior Center, Suite 9, Lomasney Way; an MGH history tour May 20, from 1 to 2:30 pm; and a lecture, "Identity Theft and How to Avoid It" May 22, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room with guest speaker John Driscoll of MGH Police and Security. Melanoma lecture series
The MGH Melanoma Center will offer "Screening, Early Detection and Trends in Melanoma," June 3, from 9 to 10 am in the Simches Research Center, Room 3110. Alan C. Geller, RN, MPH, of Boston University School of Medicine and Public Health, will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served at 8:30 am.
