Root-root-root for the home team

Once again, MGH administrators, physicians, nurses and other caregivers hung up their ties and stethoscopes for a summer softball game benefiting Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Boston's oldest anti-poverty agency. This year's game took place May 30 under the morning sun in Fenway Park. Partners team co-captains were David Torchiana, MD, chairman and chief executive officer of the MGPO, and Michael Mufson, MD, a member of BWHÕs Department of Medicine.

Each year for the past 11 years, the Partners HealthCare Community Benefit Program has pulled together a group of softball enthusiasts and community-minded individuals from across Partners to participate in the annual game. The event supports ABCD's SummerWorks program, which provides jobs, education and tutoring for at-risk, low-income Boston teenagers.
