MGH nurse honored by Boston Globe

In her role as a case manager in the MGH Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), Janice Tully, RN, (below on right) stands by her patients every step of their stay at the MGH. Deeply committed to the needs of her patients, Tully manages the course of their care, coordinates treatment plans, collaborates with the entire care team and arranges follow-up after discharge. Helping countless patients during her 32-year career — 27 of them at the MGH — Tully's dedication has not gone unnoticed. On May 4, she was one of four featured nurses in the Boston Globe's annual "Salute to Nurses" publication.

huber and tullyTully's supervisor Laura Huber, (on left) team leader for Case Management, nominated Tully for the honor, saying "to know Janice is to know that nothing is impossible when it comes to meeting the needs of her patients." For her part, Tully attributes much of her success to the support of her CICU colleagues. "I am very fortunate to be a part of the CICU team and the cardiac step-down unit, and I am most appreciative to have a supervisor like Laura who took the time to write this nomination. The MGH's supportive leadership also has truly helped me to grow as a nurse."

On May 8, Tully joined her nursing colleagues from throughout the region at the Boston Harbor Hotel for a special celebration recognizing all of this year's honorees.
