After six weeks of intense competition, a winner has been declared in the MGH Blood Donor Center's first "Put 'Em Up" vs. "Fix 'Er Up" Police and Security versus Buildings and Grounds Blood Donor Challenge. The Buildings and Grounds team, led by Chris Sorrento, emerged victorious with more than 25 percent of its employees donating during the contest. The challenge, however, came down to the wire — the Police and Security team, coordinated by Tom Murphy, tallied an impressive 22 percent participation rate by the end of the competition. Overall, more than 120 employees from both departments participated in the challenge, which was held between March 10 and April 30.
"The Blood Donor Center would like to thank the Buildings and Grounds and Police and Security departments for their participation in this first annual challenge," says Meredith Wentworth, marketing specialist for the center. "Their donations helped make a difference in the lives of more than 300 patients here at the MGH."
