InfoBytes computer training courses
On Aug. 7 Partners Information Systems Training will offer the following InfoBytes training courses in Microsoft Office 2003: "Excel: Pivot Tables," from 8:30 to 10 am; "Excel: Managing Data," from 10:30 am to noon; "Word: Document Formatting," from 1 to 2:30 pm; and "PowerPoint: Templates and Masters," from 3 to 4:30 pm. All classes will be held at 165 Cambridge St., second floor. An optional half-hour of training will be available at the end of each class for related exercises and one-on-one consultation. International sports medicine and cardiology conference
In conjunction with the Summer 2008 Olympics, the MGH and Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing will host an international conference, "One Day in Sports Medicine and Cardiology" August 2 at Peking University Hospital. The conference is designed to update health care professionals on cardiac issues in athletes — including physiology, screening and managing heart disease — as well as sports medicine issues, with a focus on evaluation and treatment of overuse injuries. The regular tuition fee is $1,000, and residents, fellows in training and allied health professionals can receive a reduced rate of $400. CME credit is available through Harvard Medical School. Senior Healthwise events
Senior HealthWISE will host the following events: hypertension screenings and blood pressure checks July 21 at the West End Senior Center and July 28 at the West End Library with both sessions from 1:30 to 2:30 pm; and a lecture, "Sexuality as We Age" July 24, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room with guest speaker Kathleen McInnis-Dittrich, MSW, PhD, of the Boston College School of Social Work.
