    To help managers and supervisors promote safety and quality to their staff, the MGH Joint Commission Communications Subcommittee has launched an intranet site promoting "Excellence Every Day" at http://intranet.massgeneral.org/excellenceeveryday/.

  • Saluting employee service on Ether Day
    On Oct. 16, 1846, the practice of medicine was forever changed when Boston dentist William T.G. Morton demonstrated the first use of ether as an anesthetic during surgery, allowing MGH co-founder John Collins Warren, MD, to remove a tumor from patient Gilbert Abbott's jaw.

  • MGH Disparities Solutions Center hosts week of events

  • In memoriam: Henry L. Foster, DVM
    Henry L. "Hank" Foster, DVM, a longtime member of the MGH Board of Trustees, died Oct. 14 after a long illness. He was 83 years old.

  • MGH Police and Security participates in unique exchange program
    A conversation over coffee between Bonnie Michelman, MGH Police and Security director, and Una Riley, SectorGuard Security Institute fellow, in London last spring was the catalyst for the development of an innovative exchange program between members of security departments in the United Kingdom and at the MGH.

  • Daniel Ginsburg to take post at Stanford Hospital & Clinics
    Daniel A. Ginsburg, MGPO president and chief operating officer and MGH senior vice president for Cancer and Women’s Programs, has accepted the position of chief operating officer at Stanford Hospital & Clinics in Palo Alto, California, effective January 2009.
