  • MGHfC participates in annual West End Children's Festival
    Passersby walking along the West End's Thoreau Path Aug. 16 could not miss the 2,000 children and parents enjoying their Saturday afternoon at the third annual West End Children's Festival. A community collaboration involving the West End Civic Association, the Downtown North Association, City Councilor Michael Ross and West End residents, the annual summer tradition offers children, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors activities, giveaways, entertainment, food and fun.

  • MGH International Transplant Observership Program
    Recently, the MGH Transplant Center – in partnership with the MGH Office of Visitor Education Programs – hosted five clinicians from several Chinese hospitals and universities in an effort to develop common goals for excellence in patient care and understand regional differences in medical practices.

  • Partnering for nursing leadership program
    Two MGH nurses working in a mentor/mentee partnership are creating an innovative program to advance the care of older adults. Deborah D'Avolio, APRN-BC, PhD, geriatric specialist for Patient Care Services, is serving as a mentor to Susan Gordon, APRN-BC, nursing director for Ellison 16.

  • MGH Registration and Referral Center celebrates summer season
    Staff at the MGH Registration and Referral Center (RRC) in Medford, Mass., celebrated the good old days Aug. 15 at their annual summer barbecue.

  • Addressing childhood obesity
    In the United States, the childhood obesity rate has more than doubled for preschool-age children and more than tripled for children age 6 to 11 over the past three decades. In fact, approximately 9 million U.S. children over the age of 6 are considered obese.

  • Score one for patients with Remy Report Blood Drive
    MGHers soon will have the opportunity to step up to the plate for patients by participating in the MGH Blood Donor Center's annual Remy Report Blood Drive. For the third year, Jerry Remy – a Red Sox commentator for New England Sports Network, host of the "Remy Report" and a former Red Sox player – is teaming up with the center to host the blood drive Sept. 8 through 12. During the week, all donors will receive an autographed "RemDawg" T-shirt and automatically will be entered into a raffle to win a pair of Red Sox tickets.

  • Partners in Excellence nominations
    Nominations currently are being accepted for the 2008 Partners in Excellence (PIE) Awards, which each year honor exceptional employees for their outstanding contributions to the success of Partners HealthCare, including work to improve quality, safety and efficiency through High Performance Medicine.
