According to the Family Violence Prevention Fund, "domestic violence affects the workplace when an abuser harasses an employee who is on the job, when a victim is absent because of injuries or less productive due to stress- or when violence occurs at the worksite." Helping employees, and patients, who are experiencing abuse can be a real challenge for the MGH, but it is a challenge worth meeting. |
February 14, 2008: Jane Doe Inc. Hosts Statewide Pledge Event
9am-10am (light breakfast at 8:30am)
On February 14th, 9am-10am, Jane Doe Inc. will host a public White Ribbon Day event at the State House.
Honorary Chair Deval Patrick will be among the featured speakers.
The White Ribbon Campaign invites men who want to help end men's violence to stand and be counted. And it's a
chance for all men - heterosexual, gay, bisexual and transgender - to challenge the notions of masculinity that equate
strength with violence and control and to join together in fostering positive images of masculinity that will help us
create a world free of abuse. By doing so, these men will play an important role in changing the social norms that
perpetuate and make excuses for violence against women, sexual assault and domestic violence.
