Medical Walk-In Unit

The Massachusetts General Hospital Medical Walk-In Unit provides convenient urgent care for adults. The Unit is an affordable alternative to the emergency room for patients who are unable to see their regular physician, are without a regular physician, or are visiting the Boston area.

There is no need to call ahead to schedule an appointment though it may help to call ahead if you have specific questions. Patients are generally treated on a first-come, first-served basis. While every attempt is made to see you as quickly as possible, wait times are based on the number of people seeking care as well as the seriousness of their condition.

8:30 am - 8:00 pm
Weekends and Holidays
9:30 am - 4:00 pm
 Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas

If we are experiencing a high patient volume, the unit may close earlier than indicated above. If possible, arrive early and register in advance.

You may register as an MGH patient at the time of your visit or call the Registration Center in advance to receive a patient number and a "Blue Card" at 866-211-6588.
