Garza Mankey, MD
Dr. Mankey is originally from South Texas. She graduated from Princeton
University with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a certificate
in Spanish language and culture in 1995. Dr. Mankey then attended Georgetown
University School of Medicine and graduated from the primary care program
at MGH in 2002. She is currently a primary care physician at MGH. She
is past-director of a community medicine experience for internal medicine
residents, and received the Faculty Development Clinician-Teacher Award
to develop a community medicine curriculum for residents and students.
Dr. Mankey also serves as Co-Chair of the Internship Selection Committee
for the internal medicine program at MGH. In July 2004, Dr. Mankey was
appointed as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at Harvard Medical School
(HMS), and Assistant Director of the Office of Recruitment and Multicultural
Affairs at HMS. In this role, she serves as a student liaison between
Harvard Medical School and the MGH Multicultural Affairs Office as well
as the other Harvard-affiliated hospitals. She also serves as Vice-chair
of the Inter-society Multicultural Fellows Committee at HMS. Her main
interests include women's health, Latino health, student outreach and
mentorship, and minority recruitment.
