The Massachusetts General Hospital is the largest teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. The MGH is committed to ensuring that HMS students have a positive educational experience and achieve their objectives while rotating through the hospital. The Multicultural Affairs Office (MAO), located within the hospital, is a place where minority Harvard medical students come for career guidance, support and mentorship. Some of MAO’s initiatives targeted to HMS underrepresented minority* students include:
MAO staff member Dr. Celina Garza Mankey is also the Director of the URM Medical Student Mentorship Program and Associate Director of the Office for Recruitment and Minority Affairs at HMS. Dr. Mankey serves as a liaison between MGH and HMS for all minority students.
MAO also assists MGH residency programs with recruitment of HMS minority students to their programs. For more information about outreach, please contact: Multicultural Affairs Office * The MGH follows the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) definition of underrepresented minorities in medicine. |
