| Monique Sellas, MD
Dr. Monique Sellas is a practicing academic emergency physician with training, teaching, and research experience in Clinical Forensic Medicine. She is a graduate of Cornell University, BS 1998, and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, MD 2002. She completed her emergency medicine residency at the combined Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the Brigham & Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts, 2006. She served as Chief resident during her final year of residency and stayed on as an attending at the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Sellas is currently undertaking graduate distance-learning coursework at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine in Melbourne, Australia, as part of a Fellowship in Clinical Forensic Medicine. She is a recipient of the Multicultural Affairs Office Clinician-Teacher Development Award for her project entitled "Developing an Academic Career in the Underdeveloped Field of Clinical Forensic Medicine." She serves as Co-Chair to the MGH Sexual Assault Patient Task Force and to the Adult Sexual Assault subsection of the American College of Emergency Physician Forensic Medicine section. She has lectured on Injury Interpretation, Domestic Violence, and Sexual Assault and has published on Hate Violence, Elder Abuse, and Sexual Assault. Dr. Sellas serves as the co-director of the Harvard Medical School ME727M.3 clinical elective: Injury, Trauma, and Violence Prevention.
Dr. Sellas took on the role of Manager of Trainee Affairs for the MGH Multicultural Affairs Office in October 2008. She serves as the MAO faculty liaison for all URM residents and fellows for career planning and to connect them to mentors and resources, assists with residency recruitment, and interfaces with the Organization of Minority Residents and Fellows in an advisory capacity.
