    Massachusetts Resources

  • Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) MAPS works with and for the Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Portuguese and other Portuguese-speaking communities to increase access and remove barriers to health, education and social services through direct services, advocacy, leadership and community development. Also in Portuguese.
  • Massachusetts Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program is comprised of six regional centers and a statewide office dedicated to enhancing access to quality health care, particularly primary and preventive care. AHECís goal is to improve the supply and distribution of healthcare professionals with an emphasis on providing primary health care services for the underserved populations.
  • Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) DPH Central Library's bibliography of cultural diversity materials.
  • Office for Diversity and Community Partnership, HMS Created to promote increased recruitment, retention and advancement of underrepresented minority faculty at HMS.
  • Regional Center for Healthy Communities(RCHC) Mount Auburn Hospital Center for Community Health, a program funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

    National Resources

  • Assuring Cultural Competence in Health Care: Recommendations for National Standards and an Outcomes-Focused Research Agenda Produced for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Minority Health.
  • National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) From Georgetown University, NCCC's mission is to increase the capacity of health care and mental health programs to design, implement and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent service delivery systems.
  • Office of Minority Health Resource Center (OMHRC) Established by the DHHS, the OMHRC serves as a national resource and referral service on minority health issues.
