MISSION:
The Massachusetts General Hospital Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Employee Resource Group serves to educate the MGH community about LGBT health issues and to create an environment that is supportive of LGBT employees, patients, families, friends and allies.
GOALS and OBJECTIVES:
- Provide a forum for MGH employees who are LGBT, relatives of LGBT individuals or interested in LGBT issues for discussion, mentoring, and networking.
- Educate both healthcare providers and staff across the MGH community about the unique health care issues facing LGBT patients.
- Support the Improvement of access to and quality of care provided to LGBT employees and patients
- Ensure that the MGH climate is safe and welcoming of LGBT employees and patients, families and friends.
- Support the recruitment and retention of MGH employees with both an interest and expertise in LGBT issues.
- Ensure that all MGH internal policies are inclusive of LGBT issues.
- Create a relationship with similar organizations across the Partners system, and with other organizations around the region with similar purpose.
