Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School

This Harris Center program informed school professionals and parents about early recognition of eating disorders and appropriate interventions. Attendees learned how to recognize high-risk attitudes and behaviors--and what steps to take--so that students with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and associated diagnoses can begin the process of recovery at the earliest detection of symptoms. Schools play an important role in the identification, treatment and prevention of eating disorders and this forum provided the knowledge and resources needed to help students with or at risk for these serious illnesses. This presentation included a panel of speakers led by David B. Herzog, MD, Harvard Medical School Endowed Professor of Psychiatry in the Field of Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Founder of the Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders at MGH.
