David B. Herzog, M.D., is the Harvard Medical School Endowed Professor of psychiatry in the field of Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital. An internationally renowned expert on eating disorders, Dr. Herzog is the founder and director of the Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a distinguished researcher, teacher, clinician and advocate and has received many honors and awards:

2005 Eating Disorders Coalition Award for Excellence in Visionary Leadership
2005 Academy of Eating Disorders Award for Excellence in Advocacy
2000 Outstanding Psychiatrist Award for Research from the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society
1997 Simon Wile Award from the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for outstanding leadership and contributions in the field of liaison child and adolescent psychiatry
1994 Joseph B. Goldberger Award presented by the American Medical Association for contributions to clinical institutions
1992 Blanche F. Ittleson Award of the American Psychiatric Association for outstanding research contributing to the mental health of children

Dr. Herzog has authored over 225 peer-reviewed publications and three books.

Debra Franko, Ph.D., received her B.A. in Psychology at the University of Michigan and her Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal. After completing a two-year internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Eating Disorders Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital, she served as the Director of the Eating Disorders Program in the Department of Psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 1988 until 1998.

Dr. Franko is a Consultant in Psychology at MGH, a Full Professor in the Department of Counseling
and Applied Educational Psychology at Northeastern University, and a Visiting Scholar in Psychology at Wesleyan University.

Her clinical specialty areas include pregnancy and eating disorders, group therapy, and brief treatment approaches. Her research interests include cross-cultural differences, the prevention of eating disorders, and multimedia approaches to treatment and prevention.

Kamryn T. Eddy, Ph.D., Instructor

Dr. Eddy is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School and a staff psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Eddy received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Boston University in July, 2007. Her internship (completed July, 2007) was at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she trained in family-based treatment for adolescent eating disorders as well as in dialectical behavior therapy for eating disorders. She also trained at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University and at Children's Hospital, Boston. Between September, 2007 and December, 2008, Dr. Eddy completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harris Center. During her fellowship, she received two awards for her eating disorders research-the Livingston Award, from Harvard Medical School and the Clinical Research Day Psychiatry Award, from Massachusetts General Hospital.

The author of over 30 published research papers and book chapters, Dr. Eddy focuses her research on the diagnostic classification of eating disorders. That is, she studies how well the current diagnostic system, which includes anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS), applies to individuals with disordered eating.

Her current research is supported by a NIMH-funded individual National Research Service Award focused on addressing issues of nosology in adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Dr. Eddy's clinical specialty areas are the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults with eating disorders. You can contact Dr. Eddy as follows:
