The research component of GI Unit embodies a long-standing tradition of basic and clinical research which is at the forefront of scientific discovery. Clinical studies focus on testing the most novel treatments for gastrointestinal disorders, while laboratory work examines the underlying mechanisms of these diseases. The Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease is one of five Digestive Disease Centers in the country, and focuses on finding novel treatments for Inflammatory Bowel diseases and furthering research in this important area.

GI Unit is home to the top ranked gastroenterology fellowship program in the country. We also offer training programs for advanced fellows, interested in specializing further in specific gastroenterology procedures.
