1. Faculty Parents Group - Book Discussion: "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids
    Will Talk" on Jul 15-

    Faculty Development Seminar: Work-Life Balance Series

The summer meeting of the Faculty Parents Group will take a ‘book club’ format. We will discuss the bestselling parenting book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. This is a great book to help build communication strategies for parents with kids of all ages. Please read the book and bring your questions and ideas to share with the group!

The Office for Women's Careers, under the auspices of the Center for Faculty Development, is sponsoring a full-day "Business of Life™ Workshop." In this highly experiential workshop, you will learn how to apply the principles of strategic planning to achieve your personal and professional goals while deriving greater fulfillment from your life. You will learn a systematic process to examine your personal skills, talents and passions and to bring who you truly ARE to all that you DO.

3. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Tribute Book for Women Faculty due Jul 14-

As part of the Women in Medicine month annual reception for women faculty in September, the Office for Women's Careers is now compiling the information for this year's Tribute Book which will be distributed at the reception.

The Tribute Book will honor the significant achievements of women faculty at MGH from the July 2013 - June 2014 academic year. Including your:
  • Academic and administrative promotions
  • Other professional achievements (e.g. publications, grants, honors and awards)
  • In order to be included in this tribute book, you must complete the online form by Mon, Jul 14.

    6. The OWC Women Faculty Forum-

    The MGH Office for Women's Careers has launched a forum for women faculty. We would like this to be a space for all MGH women faculty to read and possibly share your own experiences as a woman in academic medicine. This month, we bring you a blog post from a woman physician, on being a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None." As always, we encourage faculty to contact us if you would like to submit an essay to the Faculty Forum.

    The OWC is sponsoring consultation meetings for you to meet with Amy Robb, Assistant Director for Prospect Research and Funding Opportunities, Corporate & Foundation Relations, MGH Development Office, to set up personalized funding searches. Amy can meet with individuals or small groups who share funding goals.

    This consultation will help you:

        •  Set up search parameters designed to identify funding sources for your research program.
        •  Receive a weekly report of updated search results.
        •  Gain a greater understanding of how to use COS Pivot to conduct additional searches on
            your own.
