1. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS! 2013 Research Fellows Poster Celebration-
    In collaboration with the Mass General Postdoc Association

The ORCD's Research Fellows Poster Celebration will take place on May 22, 2013. The Poster Celebration highlights the excellent research being done by MGH postdoctoral fellows. The Call for Abstracts is now open! All MGH postdocs are invited to submit your research abstract now to present your research to the MGH community at this high-profile event and compete for cash prizes.

Abstracts are due Fri, Mar 15 at 5 pm.

2. Applying for an NIH K Award: A Panel Discussion for Laboratory Researchers on Feb 26-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series

Which K award should you apply for? How do you choose a mentor? What are the elements of an excellent career plan? This panel discussion, featuring an NIH representative and senior MGH faculty who have mentored K awards, will help answer these questions and others, and will help you put together a successful application. This program will focus on K awards designed for laboratory research careers.

3. Mass General Postdoc Association Monthly Planning Committee meeting on Feb 27-
    The Mass General Postdoc Association

The Mass General Postdoc Association, with the support of the ORCD, offers career development, networking and social events specifically tailored for postdoctoral research fellows. 4. HMS Foundation Funds Informational Forum on Mar 7-
    Presented by HMS Foundation Funds

Each year several foundations invite HMS junior faculty members and postdocs to apply for their fellowships and grants, which serve as critical funding at the early stages of a research career. This informational forum will be held to provide information on funding opportunities open for nomination this spring through the HMS Foundation Funds.

5. Yoga for Mindfulness and Resilience at Work on Mar 28-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Work-Life Balance Series

This interactive seminar teaches participants mindfulness techniques including meditation and basic yoga skills, helpful in developing a personal strategy for enhancing resilience and managing stress. Both new and returning participants are welcome at this session.

6. Responsible Conduct of Research, Mentoring: Responsibilities of Mentors & Mentees on Apr 3-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Responsible Conduct of Research Series

What should you look for in a good mentor? When do you stop needing mentors? How do you make the transition from mentee to mentor? In this interactive seminar, we will discuss the responsibilities of mentors and mentees, and the characteristics of good mentoring relationships. This seminar will help you get the most out of this critical aspect of your career development.
