1. NEW!Panel Discussion: "Finding a Job in a Tough Market," and Vendor Fair on July 18-
    Presented by The Mass General Postdoc Association

This two-part event will begin with a panel discussion featuring former MGH postdoctoral fellows who have recently transitioned to their next jobs. Come hear their stories about finding career success in the current difficult job market. Then stay for a vendor fair and lunch. Speak to vendors about the newest equipment and supplies that will advance your research.

2. MGPA Monthly Planning Committee meeting on Jun 26-
    Presented by The Mass General Postdoc Association

The Mass General Postdoc Association (MGPA), with the support of the ORCD, offers career development, networking and social events specifically tailored for postdoctoral research fellows. All MGH postdocs are welcome to join the MGPA. Attend this meeting to help plan upcoming events and share your ideas for future events and initiatives. Active planning committee members are eligible for elected positions on the MGPA board.

3. New Research Fellow Orientation Lunch on Jul 9-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Networking Series

The ORCD will host an orientation lunch for new research fellows who joined the MGH in the past six months. If you, or one of your colleagues, are a new research fellow, please contact the ORCD to register for the orientation lunch. This is an opportunity to learn more about research and career resources at MGH. It is also an opportunity to meet ORCD staff and members of the Mass General Postdoc Association (MGPA).

4. Responsible Conduct of Research- Data Management and Data Integrity on Jul 15-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Responsible Conduct of Research Series

This RCR seminar will provide strategies for managing laboratory data in various formats (lab notebooks, electronic media, etc) and maintaining its integrity from early data collection to post-publication.

5. Call for Applications English as a Second Language for Researchers due Aug 6-

The ORCD office is now accepting applications for the Fall 2013 semester of the English as a Second Language (ESL) 15-week course for MGH researchers. The semester will be from September to December 2013 and geared towards researchers to help with scientific communication as well as every day English. Classes meet once a week from 5:30 to 8:45 pm in the Simches Research Building.

Before applying, please be certain you can devote the time necessary for successful completion of this course. Eligibility for future ESL classes depends on attendance during this semester.

1. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Tosteson & Fund for Medical Discovery (FMD) Postdoctoral
    Fellowship Awards due Jun 25-

The Executive Committee on Research (ECOR) is now accepting applications for the Tosteson and Fund for Medical Discovery (FMD) post-doctoral fellowship awards for fellows at MGH. The Tosteson and FMD award are for one year and include a stipend of $40,000. As a reminder, ECOR will accept only one application per applicant for MGH ECOR Fellowship Awards per calendar year (two general calls and one additional call focused on clinical research are posted each year).
