1. Crafting Your CV Narrative on Jul 23-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Career Advancement Series

Your CV is almost complete, however, do you need help writing your CV narrative?

This interactive seminar will review the purpose and structure of the HMS CV narrative. Additionally, there will be a practicum on how to overcome your writer's block and craft a narrative that best describes your major contributions and achievements.

1. Faculty Parents Group - Book Discussion: "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen
    and Listen So Kids Will Talk" on Jul 15-

    Faculty Development Seminar: Work-Life Balance Series
    Sponsored by the Office for Women's Careers

The summer meeting of the Faculty Parents Group will take a ‘book club’ format. We will discuss the best selling parenting book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. This is a great book to help build communication strategies for parents with kids of all ages. Please read the book and bring your questions and ideas to share with the group!

2. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS! English as a Second Language for Researchers
    due Aug 5-

    Faculty Development Seminar: Communication Series
    Sponsored by the Office for Research Career Development

Applications are being accepted for the Fall 2014 semester of the English as a Second Language (ESL) 15-week course for MGH researchers. The semester runs September to December 2014 and is geared towards researchers to help with scientific communication as well as everyday English. Classes meet once a week from 5:30 to 8:45 pm in the Simches Research Building.

Before applying, please be certain you can devote the time necessary for weekly sessions for the duration of this course. Eligibility for future ESL classes depends on attendance from previous semesters.

The Mass General Postdoc Association (MGPA), with the support of the ORCD, offers career development, networking and social events specifically tailored for postdoctoral research fellows. All MGH postdocs are welcome to join the MGPA. Attend monthly planning meetings to:

    •  Share your ideas for future events and initiatives
    •  Become eligible for elected positions on the MGPA board and MGPA travel awards

3. CV and Resume Writing Workshop on Jul 24-
    Presented by the Mass General Postdoc Association

In this workshop facilitated by Lauren Celano, MBA, Founder and CEO, Propel Careers, you will learn:
    •  Similarities and differences between resumes and CVs
    •  How to highlight experiences and skills on a resume/CV
    •  How to customize a resume/CV for different positions
    •  What happens to your resume/CV after you apply
    •  How organizations utilize resume databases

Following the talk, time will be allocated for Q&A to address additional topics. Please submit your CV by July 14 for individual feedback
