1. Marketing for Scientists: How to Shine in Tough Times on Oct 30 & 31-
    Faculty Development Seminar: Career Advancement Series

This two-part workshop will teach you how to use techniques from the business world to build your science career. Participants will learn "how to get their ideas across vividly while maintaining their integrity and building the outstanding reputations they need." (www.marketingforscientists.com)

It is recommended that you attend both sessions (part II will build upon part I), but you may sign up for one or the other if that is what your schedule allows.

2. REMINDER: HMS Foundation Funds Applications due Oct 16-
    Harvard Medical School

Each year several foundations invite HMS faculty and postdocs to apply for their fellowships and grants, which serve as critical funding at the early stages of a research career. Interested investigators must first apply for the HMS nomination through the HMS Foundation Funds, and a committee will select the final candidates to submit applications to the foundations.

Applications are due on Wed, Oct 16.

3. Impact of Federal Government Shutdown on Visas and International Employees-
