MGPA Day Trip to Georges Island for Postdocs and Families!

Mass General Postdoc Association (MGPA) organized a day trip to Georges Island for MGH postdocs and their families. Attendees spent a fun and relaxed afternoon enjoying the island breezes, exploring the fort, and getting to know other postdocs.

Panel Discussion: "Finding a Job in a Tough Market," and Vendor Fair

This two-part event began with a panel discussion featuring former MGH postdoctoral fellows who had recently transitioned to their next jobs. Attendees heard their stories about finding career success in the current difficult job market. After the panel, there was a vendor fair where attendees spoke to vendors about the newest equipment and supplies to advance their research.

Data Integrity: Managing Your Data Responsibly

This RCR seminar provided strategies for managing laboratory data in various formats (lab notebooks, electronic media, etc) and maintaining its integrity from early data collection to post-publication.

In this RCR seminar, participants viewed and discussed the short film, "THE LAB: Avoiding Research Misconduct," from the NIH Office of Research Integrity. As part of the discussion, audience members were asked to take on the role of different characters and make decisions about integrity in research that can have long-term consequences.

MGPA Self-Sponsored Green Card Information Session

Panelists: Richard Iandoli, Madeline Choi Cronin, and Eoin Reilly of Iandoli & Desai, PC.

The MGPA organized an informational session about the self-sponsored Green Card application process for international postdocs. Two expert immigration lawyers explained in detail the process and requirements for the EB-1 Person of Extraordinary Ability and EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) categories.

Peer Review: Guidelines and Practice

In this interactive workshop participants learned about and practiced scientific peer review. Discussion topics included: an overview of the peer review process, journal guidelines and unwritten rules, and ethical considerations for reviewers. Participants also participated in a mock peer review and received feedback from the faculty presenters.
