Dr. Stern is an MGH Psychiatrist and the Editor and Chief of Psychosomatics. He has given advice on grant and academic writing for minority faculty and came and shared his advice with OMRF. His lecture on medical writing showed attendees how to maximize their time and energy to get published and think about applying for grants.

This seminar series helped clinicians improve their scholarly writing. The course was the most valuable for those that desired to improve their scientific writing and productivity. Participants learned how to:

Select a target audience for writing
Create an outline
Avoid obsessive perfectionism
Understand the peer-review process
Communicate effectively with journal editors
The process used in this series was to serve as a template for future academic projects.
