These "unrestricted" gifts are so important in helping us to progress in our mission. Philanthropy has helped support the Office's Faculty Development Awards, which provide bridge funding for junior women faculty to sustain productivity during their child-rearing years. These competitive awards are intended to provide transitional or start up funding for each recipient with the goal of increasing their ability to obtain significant government funding in the future. The women who have been granted these awards have shown remarkable success. Philanthropy is also needed to help expand the services that the office provides to senior faculty and those who are at the critical mid-point juncture of their careers. Your support would greatly strengthen the Center for Faculty Development and have a significant impact on the its work in providing support and assistance to the physicians and scientists in the academic promotion process, formalizing mentor relationships and increasing their retention rates. Planned Giving and BequestsThe MGH offers a number of ways to make significant charitable gifts to the CFD. You may want to consider making a "planned gift," such as remembering CFD in your will; establishing a charitable remainder trust or annuity, while receiving an income for your life and/or the life of your designated beneficiary; naming the CFD as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy; or donating personal property, such as stocks, bonds, or real estate.
