Hosted by the Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital
The Institute of Medicine Reports Crossing the Quality Chasm and Unequal Treatment highlight the critical nexus between improving quality, achieving equity, and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in health care. For this to occur our health care system needs leaders in quality improvement who have the knowledge and skills necessary to develop strategies to achieve equity.
The Healthcare Quality and Equity Action Forum serves as a dissemination and implementation conference developed and led by The Disparities Solutions Center (DSC) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), as well as alumni from the Disparities Leadership Program. Forum faculty consist of experts in the field, as well as those with real-world experience implementing equity strategies and solutions. The Forum targets leaders that are active in health care delivery and focus on quality improvement (including those from health plans, hospitals, and health centers across the country). It provides participants with the tools and skills to identify and address racial and ethnic disparities in health care within their organizations, with the goal of empowering them to implement these strategies and transform their organizations to focus on quality and equity.
The inaugural Healthcare Quality and Equity Action Forum took place in Boston, MA, on September 24th and 25th, 2012.
Support was provided by Aetna Life Insurance Company; Amgen, Inc.; Language Line Services; The California Healthcare Foundation; The Commonwealth Fund; American Cancer Society; DentaQuest Foundation; and a private donor.
Our next Healthcare Quality and Equity Action Forum will take place on
June 19th and 20th, 2014.
