Picture Jana Bagarova

Jana Bagarova, PhD
Jana Bagarova completed undergraduate studies in Biology and Anthropology at Commenius University in the Slovak Republic, and completed her PhD studies at the University of Massachusetts studying the temporal regulatory mechanisms of sperm mitochondrial gene expression.  She joined the laboratory in the fall of 2009 and is interested in BMP signaling in the vasculature and the intersection of BMP/TGF-β and inflammatory signaling.

Deborah W. Hong, BS
Ms. Hong is from Chicago, IL, and completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at Stanford University.  She joined the laboratory in 2008, and has been studying the role of BMP signaling in the differentiation of myogenic progenitor cell lineages.

Picture Rajeev Malhotra

Rajeev Malhotra, MD
Dr. Malhotra is currently a clinical and research fellow in the Cardiovascular Fellowship program at MGH.  He completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Harvard, pursuing research with Dr. Guido Guidotti as a medical student in the Health Sciences and Technology program.  He joined our laboratory and Dr. Kenneth Bloch’s laboratory in the summer of 2009.

Patrick M. McManus, BS
Mr. McManus completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Boston College.  He joined the laboratory in 2008, and has pursued chemical biology approaches to dissecting the BMP signaling pathway.

Picture Agustin Mohedas

Agustin Mohedas, BS
Agustin studied Biomedical Engineering as an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University, and is now pursuing PhD studies at the Health Science and Technology in the Medical Engineering Medical Physics program at Harvard and MIT.  He joined the laboratory in 2009.

Picture Donna Deng

Donna Y. Deng, BA (2005-2008)
A native of Honolulu, HI, Ms. Deng completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Wellesley College.  She studied the impact of BMP signaling in vascular smooth muscle cell function in vivo and in vitro, and the targeting of the BMP signaling pathway with small molecules.  She is current a medical student at the University of Hawaii.

Picture Stefan Hoyng

Stefan A. Hoyng, MD (2006)
Dr. Hoyng worked in the laboratory during medical studies at Leiden University Medical Center, studying the role of the BMP signaling pathway in animal disease models.  He plans to pursue Neurosurgical research and practice.

Picture Carol Lai

Carol S.C. Lai, BA (2007-2009)
Ms. Lai is a native of Honolulu, HI, and completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at Tufts University.  She joined the laboratory in 2007, and has studied the impact of gain in BMP signaling in a number of animal models.  She is currently a medical student at the Unversity of Hawaii.

Picture Pawina Jiramongkolchai

Pawina Jiramongkolchai (2007)
Ms. Jiramongkolchai is an undergraduate student in Chemistry at Princeton University.  She worked in the laboratory as a summer student to study the BMP signaling pathway via chemical biology and high throughput methodologies.  She is interested in health policy and German, and enjoys playing the violin and squash.
