The National Institute of Health's Specialized Program Of Translational Research in Acute Stroke (SPOTRIAS) is a network of 7 NINDS-funded acute stroke research centers. The aim of the SPOTRIAS model is to perform acute stroke research in an efficient and coordinated manner. SPOTRIAS at Partners is funded over five years to perform three inter-related acute stroke research projects, each of which originated in the MGH basic research laboratories. The research is funded at the MGH and BWH. Project 1 is a double blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial of normobaric oxygen therapy in acute stroke.
