Natalia Rost, MD
Dr. Natalia Rost is MGH Stroke
Neurologist and Instructor in Neurology at Harvard
Medical School. Natalia received her M.D. from
Boston University School of Medicine cum laude
and completed her internship in Medicine at
Massachusetts General Hospital (2003), and residency
in Neurology (2006) and fellowship in Vascular
and Critical Care Neurology at the Massachusetts
General Hospital/Brigham and Women’s Hospital
(2007).
Dr. Rost is a diplomate of the
American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and
a recipient of the National Stroke Association
Clinical Research Training Fellowship in Cerebrovascular
Disease. Natalia is an affiliate member of the
MGH Center for Human Genetic Research and the
Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Her research
interests and expertise are in the field of
genetics and genomics of stroke and intracerebral
hemorrhage, neuroimaging of cerebrovascular
disease, and outcome prediction.

Lynelle Cortellini, MSc
Lynelle Cortellini is the Senior
Program Manager for the Rosand Lab and the Neuroscience
ICU. Some of her major projects include coordination
of the International Stroke Genetics Consortium
and the “Genetics of Cerebral Hemorrhage
with Anticoagulation” multi-site study
at the J. Philip Kistler Stroke Research Center.
Lynelle received her Bachelor of Science degree
from Tufts University (Medford, MA) and her
Master of Science degree from Brown University
(Providence, RI). She works with investigators
from around the globe as part of collaborative
efforts to identify genes that may play a role
in developing both ischemic and hemorrhagic
stroke.

Alessandro Biffi, MD
Alessandro Biffi is a Postdoctoral
Research Fellow in the Rosand Lab. He is currently
involved in the “Genetics of Cerebral
Hemorrhage with Anticoagulation” multi-site
study at the J. Philip Kistler Stroke Research
Center, as well as in other projects aimed at
uncovering the genetic basis of cerebrovascular
disorders. Alessandro received his MD degree
from University of Milan-Bicocca (Milan, Italy).
He is also part of research efforts aimed at
developing and testing non-invasive Intracranial
Pressure (ICP) measuring instruments.

Lisa Cloonan, BA
Lisa Cloonan is a Clinical Research
Coordinator for the Rosand lab and J. Philip
Kistler Stroke Research Center. She recruits
Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham Women’s
Hospital ischemic stroke patients for GASROS,
a study that investigates genetic risk factors
for ischemic stroke. Lisa received her Bachelors
of Arts degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from
Connecticut College.

William Devan, BS
Billy Devan is a data analyst/biostatician in
the Rosand Lab. He is currently involved in
the genetics of cerebral hemorrhage, the genetics
of Alzheimer’s disease using neuroimaging,
and other projects involving the genetics of
cerebrovascular disorders. Billy received his
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical/Electrical
Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
(RPI) in Troy, NY and is preparing to apply
to medical school.

Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, BA
Kaitlin Fitzpatrick is a neuroimaging
research assistant who works between the Rosand
Lab and the J. Kistler Stroke Research Center.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience
magna cum laude from Brown University (Providence,
RI). Her projects mainly include white matter
quantification and stroke genetics.

Caryn Nearnberg
Caryn Nearnberg works on neuroimaging
research with the Rosand Lab. She is currently
an undergraduate at Brandeis University pursuing
a degree in Health: Science, Society, and Policy
as well as Biology and French. Her major project
has been volumetric analysis of hemorrhagic
stroke patient CT scans.

Sydney O’Connor,
BA
Sydney O’Connor is a Clinical
Research Coordinator for the Rosand Lab, within
the Center for Human Genetic Research at Massachusetts
General Hospital. She received her Bachelors
of Arts degree in Psychology and Linguistics
from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), and
is currently preparing to apply to graduate
school. In addition to her role in the Rosand
Lab, Sydney also works closely with the Neurological
Intensive Care Unit, compiling a database of
information for future studies.

Katrina Screen, BA, MA
Katrina Screen is Jonathan Rosand's Executive
Assistant/Administrator. She serves as the point
of contact for Jonathan in both the Rosand Lab
and in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit.
Her other major responsibility is coordinating
the vascular and critical care fellowship programs.
Katrina received her bachelor's degree in communications
and art history at the University of Massachusetts,
Amherst and her Master's in counseling psychology
from Assumption College in Worcester.

Lisa Shriver, BME, MM
Lisa Shriver is an administrator
for the Rosand Lab at the Center for Human Genetic
Research of Massachusetts General Hospital.
Her major responsibilities include maintaining
the Rosand Lab financial records and involvement
with the financial aspects of various CHGR projects
funded by the National Institute of Neurological
Disease and Stroke, National Institute of Health,
American Heart Association, and other agencies.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Music Education
degree from Arizona State University (Tempe,
Arizona), and her Master of Music degree in
Vocal Performance from The University of Oklahoma
(Norman, Oklahoma).

Valerie Valant, BA
Valerie Valant is a research technologist
with the Rosand Lab at the Center for Human
Genetics Research of Massachusetts General Hospital,
and an affiliate of the Broad Institute of MIT
and Harvard. Valerie received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Biology, with a minor in Women's
Studies, from Hamilton College (Clinton, NY)
and is currently applying to medical school.
She works closely with members of MGH and the
Broad to investigate genetic risk factors for
hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
