Allan Frederick Moore, M.D.
1977-2008

Allan F. Moore, M.D., a fellow in the Massachusetts General Hospital Endocrine Division and a physician in Internal Medicine, died July 24, 2008 from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 31 years old.

Dr. Moore graduated with high honors from the University of Virginia in 1999 and received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2003, joining the MGH that same year as a resident in Internal Medicine. At the time of his death Moore was conducting research into the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes and –a gifted scholar –was also pursuing a master’s degree in medical science at Harvard Medical School. Extremely dedicated to the hospital community, Moore was instrumental in the founding and organizing of the MGH Blood Donor Center’s annual Medical Service Blood Drive Challenge, which celebrated its fourth year in May.

Dr. Moore is survived by his wife, Rebekah Gee, M.D., a former MGH resident who was also injured in the accident and is recovering; his father, Michael Moore, M.D.; his mother, Janet; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Lisa Moore; his paternal grandmother, Ruby M. Moore; and his father-in-law, E. Gordon Gee, J.D., Ed.D.
