Giving Blood
Donating
blood and platelets is one of the easiest ways to make a difference
in a patient's life. The actual process of giving blood takes
approximately 30 minutes.
During chemotherapy and radiation both cancer cells and
healthy cells are destroyed, so patients need platelet transfusions
to prevent bleeding or to fight infections.
By donating one unit of blood can help as many as three
patients.
