Helping
7-11 years old Cope When The Parent Has
Cancer
We know that when a mom or dad has cancer,
life can be stressful. Things might feel
like a roller coaster ride for a while.
You might have lots of different feelings
when you are first told that your mom
or dad has cancer. Some kids feel sad,
scared, angry, worried or confused. There
is no one right or wrong way to feel.
It helps to be able to talk about your
feelings with a grown-up or a friend.
Know that things will settle down.
Cancer does not mean your mom or dad stops
being your parent. Even if they can't do all
the things they used to do, they can still
listen, talk and love you.
