Clinical Research
Clinical research is conducted in the cross-disciplinary disease centers of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, which bring Medicine, Radiology and Surgery together for a patient-oriented approach to care, as well as a scientific point of interaction.
When locating clinical trials, it is important to remember that no single resource is a comprehensive list of every cancer clinical trial. For up-to-date information about a specific cancer clinical study, you will need to make an appointment with a Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center clinician at 877-789-6100 who has access to OncPro, a proprietary database that contains information about every research study found within the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. The clinical trials listed on OncPro are available to participating clinicians and, therefore, are not found on the Internet.
Every advance in the treatment of cancer has resulted from clinical trials -- in which physician-investigators evaluate, through a carefully designed and monitored protocol, the safety and efficacy of a new therapy for patients. The Cancer Center participates in clinical trials through Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. Ten new trials are activated each month with over 350 trials in total per year.
